About

Who we are ?

It all started when Chef Gyanendra, popularly known as Chef G came across the fact that Calgary is not an avid server of Nepalese food. In an attempt to bridge that gap he travelled to Nepal, to research and learn more about his roots, to curate a menu that not only serves the most authentic flavours but also carries symbolism from Nepalese culture.

Tara Poudel, a connoisseur in the field of finance management and also Chef G’s wife, laid out the blueprint to bring “Aama Nepalese Cuisine” to life. She worked on the ideation, while Chef took care of all things flavour. For the name, they wanted to honour Chef G’s beloved late mother, thereby calling the place Aama Nepalese Cuisine where “Aama” means mother. We look forward to providing you with an unforgettable dining experience! Please do stop by!

It was great as we were just passing by and saw the restaurant. What attracted me was the color coding used to display the name of the restaurant. We thought of giving it a try. We did not have a reservation, however the owner was gracious to accommodate us. The food and the service was top scale. It's worth driving from Calgary to Cochrane to have food at Aama. Make sure, you make prior reservation as the place becomes busy. Highly recommended!!

It is worth the hype!! I first saw it on Instagram & have been wanting to visit ever since. This place has such great flavorful Nepalese food. We got there at 8 pm & the restaurant was full. It has limited seating - would recommend reserving it. We ordered butter chicken, tandoori momos , steamed momos & chicken chownein-. The chicken was cooked to perfection. The flavors were to the point.

We were headed to Vancouver from Central Alberta and stopped on the way. The service, meal and atmosphere were excellent. We tried the meal for two what a great way to sample a few things not really knowing what to order. When it came to the table they explained all the different foods. We were in a bit of a hurry and food came very quickly. Would definitely recommend!!

There are some excellent restaurants in Cochrane and Aama's is one of the best. The food here is amazing. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is always personable. From the recommended wine pairing to the appetizer dumplings to the yak tenderloin, Outstanding! We were a little worried about oil and butter, as per our previous experiences with Indian-Pakistani-Nepales foods, but Aama's food was perfect. A higher level of cuisine indeed!

Had a wonderful meal here last night and everything was absolutely brilliant. The service, the food, and the atmosphere were all wonderful. One of the owners was our server and he did a fantastic job of explaining the menu while providing great service. We will 100% be back!

Went for my dad’s birthday and it was amazing! The atmosphere was so cozy and welcoming and the service was so personal and kind. The food was absolutely delicious! We all shared various appetizers, main courses and a dessert and I will definitely be back soon!
